John Carrington

Hailed by the Seattle Times as "outstanding, brilliant and expressive," Seattle native John Carrington is principal harpist with the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, the Bellevue Philharmonic and the Auburn Symphony. John also appears regularly with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera orchestras where he was Guest Principal Harpist for several seasons. He participated in Seattle Opera’s production of Wagner’s Ring Cycle in 2005 and also currently plays with the Fifth Avenue Theatre Orchestra.. Summer Festivals have included the Festival at Sandpoint with Gunther Schuller, the National Repertory Orchestra, Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, and the Salzedo Summer Harp Colony in Camden, Maine. John has also played as soloist on invitation at the American Harp Society National Convention and the World Harp Congress. He has served as adjudicator and judge for the Washington State Solo competition, the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival, and the American Harp Society. He has also performed as solo harpist on Cunard Line’s "Queen Elizabeth 2" for its World Cruise on six continents. He received his Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music after earning his Bachelor of Music from the University of Washington. His teachers include Pamela Vokolek, Lynne Palmer and Alice Chalifoux.
